Wine

Since a long time, Mogoro has been excelling in the art of viticulture. It counts several ancient, traditional vines such as cannonau, nuragus and semidano, which can be considered autoctonous of the island; other vines are a Phoenician, Roman, Catalan-Aragonese and Greek-Byzantine heritage: monica, carignano, malvasia and gregu. Many other vines can be found in the territory of Mogoro, whose origin and classification are as ancient and indefinite as worthwhile.

Undoubtedly, sloping hills, sunshine and a snaking stream are the secrets of the good Marmilla wine. Since 1956, it has been conquering the finest palates, obtaining high rewards and prizes, not only in Sardinia but also in the Italian peninsulae and worldwide, taking in the limelight the name of Mogoro and its wine growers.

The wine sector is symbolized by ‘Il Nuraghe’ winery, standing out at km 62 (at a fork) of the State Road 131. Annexed to the winery, an exhibition can be visited. Here, it is possible to taste and purchase bottles of many DOC wines produced.
